Hydrochloric Acid 24%
Hydrochloric Acid ideal for etching new concrete floors or unpainted floors in preparation for Epotread coatings.
It is important to let the acid neutralize on the concrete surface, then thoroughly waterblast to remove loose cement material and fine aggregate.
Hydrochloric Acid is also known as Spirits of Salts and is commonly used for brick cleaning.
Please note: Shipping of this product to a Rural address may incur a freight surcharge.
Only use Hydrochloric Acid on bare concrete, not on painted surfaces.
Directions:
- Dilute Hydrochloric Acid with water as directed (usually about 4 parts water to 1 part acid).
- Apply to floor area using plastic watering can, or mop onto the floor using a soft broom and bucket.
- Scrub in with a broom for 3 minutes, take care not to splash acid onto walls, door rails, etc.
- Wait for 30 minutes to ensure the acid has neutralised, then thoroughly waterblast the surface.
Used for etching bare concrete floors in preparation for painting. Hydrochloric Acid will react with cement in the concrete to roughen the surface slightly. This provides a better bond for the floor coatings.
Typical coverage on new or near-new concrete floors:
20 litres - 120 square metres.
5 litres - 30 square metres.
Some concrete floors may require more (or less) acid, depending on the hardness and strength of the concrete.
